Nitra wine region
Wineries / Vineyards
The wine region of Nitra covers areas with a variety of soils and microclimates.
In the south there are still loamy soils, gentle hills and river valleys, while in the north the mountain vineyards are already growing on the granite and limestone soils of the southern slopes of the Tribeč mountain.
The wines produced here are rich in aromas and acidity, and also make excellent sparkling wine. Around Verebély, in the Zobor valley, there are many Hungarian-speaking winemakers who make their wines mainly from Central European and international grape varieties, but it is also worth mentioning the indigenous Cétényi, also known as Bratislavian white, named after Nagycétény-Kiscétény.
